The Village Manager is an appointed position and serves at the pleasure of the Village Council. The Manager oversees all the departments of the Village including the clerk’s office, the treasurer’s office, the department of public works, police services, contracts, employees, purchases, budgeting and finances, and acts as the executive director of the Downtown Development Authority. The position was established as an appointed position in 2007. David came to the Village as its Manager on November 1, 2017, with an extensive background in Village and Township operations at the Village of Ortonville and Salem Township
With the council and president elected every four years and often consisting of business owners, or, holding full time jobs themselves, the council chose to establish the position in order to maintain some continuity of direction in policy and procedure. As well, the manager deals with the everyday works of the sewer, water, and street maintenance systems in the Village and is the key contact, or liaison, with other government agencies both within and without the Village, serving as a member of the board of directors of other agencies.
David is normally in the office from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on each day of the week, in and out based on the number of other meetings that may take up the typical day.
